Hi,

the grafical installer doesn't come up on a siemens pc with i815 video chip.
Disabling acpi doesn't help.
So I booted the system and after the display goes to "no signal" I switched to
console to save the y2logs and to get the hwinfo.

I will attach these files to this report

snwint, please, is it OK to use i810 driver for i815?

Yes but during installation, the vesa driver is (should be) used. 
I'd say X starts fine but the monitor can't display the mode.

The monitor is a ACER FP751 with a resolution 1280x1024 at 60Hz and 16 Bit.
I've installed the beta1 with text console and configured the X-Server with sax2.

Now I have a running system with X.
But I think a DAU User should be able to make a grafical installation.

I've made some tests.
The linuxrc shows me in the advance setting only vesa and text mode nothing more
like 1024x786 800x600 ...
When I use the text mode installation, the display sometime is very disordered,
so I can't see, where I have to fill in the data for example hostname etc.
Maybe the vesa stuff is broken on this card ?

Hmm, I think the vesa driver on this machine is broken. Please 
do the following for getting better logs: 
 
(1) start the installation as you did in you first try. I assume you 
    got the fallback textmode. 
 
(2) now switch to the console available in this environment 
     
       Alt-F2 
 
(3) the Xorg log file and the configuration used should be saved now 
 
      /etc/X11/xorg.conf 
      /var/log/Xorg*.log

Works for me with rc1. I'll try the startup of the beta1 installation later.

Also works with beta1 out-of-the-box on my machine.
Same PCI id, but off course different subvendor id.

I don't know what else to test, Stefan?

I've tested it with RC1.
It doesn't work, I get a black screen (and then a message from monitor "Kein
Signal").

Dieter, reopening won't help. We can't reproduce this problem. :-(
