Description Rob Lyon 2005-08-09 19:56:42 UTC
The mDNSResponder package needs to update the nsswitch.conf configuration file
to include mdns to the list for resolving host names.
Comment 1 Andreas Jaeger 2005-08-22 09:06:15 UTC
Thorsten, this looks strange to me - is this really correct?
Comment 2 Thorsten Kukuk 2005-08-22 09:16:55 UTC
I don't know. But since KDE has a hard requirement to it, I don't
think we wish that it will be activated because there is this package
installed.
Comment 3 Adrian Schröter 2005-08-22 09:29:10 UTC
we do want this daemon running and working by default (as discussed for 9.3)

however, mls said that the nsswitch.conf entry isn't needed, because our glibc
does already mDNS with external help.
Comment 4 Michael Schröder 2005-08-22 09:29:56 UTC
It doesn't need to update nsswitch.conf. We resolve mdns host queries in out
glibc.
Comment 5 Marcus Meissner 2005-10-08 15:52:21 UTC
another user reported this and his problem was the firewall.

by default our firewall blocks port 5353 UDP, so queries will not resolve.

open this single port and it will do multicast dns resolved
