Could you, please, attath the installation logs (see http://www.suse.de/~sh/Bugreporting-faq/index.html#id2518603 for details) Yes, but I'm still installing that machine... Created attachment 45480 [details]
yast2 logs for grub problem
It was decided to install bootloade by default to boot sector of /boot partition. You obviously chaneged it to install to MBR (according to log). There was no error while installing bootloader. Did you get any arror while attempting to boot during installation? Everything seems to have been saved correctly. For this second try I did not have any error. But for my first try, when I left it at /dev/hda3, the notebook did not even recognise, that my hdd is bootable, and tried to boot from the network. So I reinstalled, and this time, I changed GRUB to use the MBR. OK, so the logs come from the second installation, right? And the second installation booted properly if I understand you correctly. Yes, logs are from second install (it's difficult to get information out from an unbootable system...). Sorry, but then I can hardly help you (as I can't determine what was wrong). It is quite probable that this bug is a duplicate of another bug (most probably 103031). Sorry, but can't help you (#define WONTFIX CANTFIX) OK, I'm still testing on this machine, with 4G worth of ADSL download :) But when beta2 comes out, I will reinstall it, and see if it's still there. If yes, I'll send yast2 logs, and whatever you want by booting from the rescue CD. It's still here in beta4. I will add YaST2 logs. The strange thing is, that when CD1 is in the drive (like during installation), then "boot from HDD" works, I get the GRUB menu installed on the HDD. But it's not found, when I boot directly the HDD. This time it is a duplicate of known problem (wrong permission of one of binaries). *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 103031 *** |
