Description Benjamin Weber 2005-08-10 13:15:21 UTC
The new "Desktop Selection" stage during installation of openSUSE beta1 has 3
radiobuttons for Gnome, KDE, or Special Options.

This is I think a good choice to have, however the fact that neither of the 3
radiobuttons is selected by default means that the user cannot just click next
if they do not understand the question. Having one of these preselected would
not make the choice any more difficult to anyone who understands the question
but would merely remove the requirement to understand the question.

I propose that kde should probably be selected by default since previous
versions of suse pro have always defaulted to kde and hence a user who has
just clicked next in the past would get the same result.

( ) GNOME
( ) KDE
( ) Other

Why user has to select one option by himself?

I'm not allowed to make a decision in this case or to provide the information
`why` it is so (there might be more possible reasons for that).

(x) KDE would be the best choice. Because KDE as default WM was always one
reason to choose SuSE and not any other distribution. - Just my opinion and
the one of ~100 of our customers.
