Please provide the YaST log files as explained in: http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/Bug_Reporting_FAQ#YaST Created attachment 45612 [details]
The Yast logs
This are the files from the new installation without the ide-disk.
If you wish, i could install suse 10 with the ide-disk and post the log files.
Please contact me.
It could sound a bit nasty, but attaching y2logs with the error handling inside them would be much more helpful than the correct installation where you were able to create the swap patition ;). If you have any problem, please, report that error and save the logs (rather the whole /var/log/YaST2/ directory) just in the time when the problem appears. On the other hand there is a possibility how to get those logs without reinstalling the computer: Do this if you can, please: Plug the IDE-disk in and start the installation from CD/FTP just as you did before. When the bug appears (cannot create swap when IDE-disk plugged in), switch to the console by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F2 and create a tar archive of the whole /var/log/YaST2 directory or use the Bugreporting FAQ to save the logs from Installation UI. Then copy this archive to the floppy or somewhere to the current (SATA?) disk. Then, if you abort the installation, you could boot to your previously installed system. Nothing gets installed, no patrition gets formatted until you accept the final installation proposal and say [Yes, Install] (or something like that). If you are selecting which partition should be formatted, where should be mounted, nothing is mounted or formatted. Everything starts after you accept the proposal - and you can allways abort the installation before... I have had this error in many times yesterday but today nothing happend when i installed suse. With or without the IDE-disk plugged in? Have had you the same hardware configuration as in the time when you mentioned the error? Ok i found the Problem. When i use the disk partionier and use the "hole disk" option for my sata disk and i install suse this error is displayed: Storage modification failed System error code was: -3005 Failure occured during following action: Formating partition /dev/sda1 (1004.0 MB) with none /dev/sda1 is used as swap. This error occured ever with or without ide!!! I will submit the logfiles later, after the installation. Afaik, this one is known and fixed for beta2 |
