If you are running a GNOME session, many KDE applications trigger the starting
of knotify.  Knotify then proceeds to eat memory and cpu time.  I have seem
memory usages as much as 1 GB virtual memory and near 100% cpu usage within
minutes of knotify starting.

did you find a way to reproduce it? I failed
