Agreed. We'll try to install from all CDs before reboot. See bug #103800. But if we need to reboot after CD1, this should be shown somehow. -> Stefan The SlideShow UI has no way of knowing anything about any reboots, and I don't think it would be a good idea to add that information to that dialog anyway. We have been doing that for 5+ years now, and so far nobody else seemed to be confused by that. The "reboot" popup is explicit enough. We surely cannot be everybody's darling, so we have to make the average user our priority target, and the average user seems to like the way it is a lot more than any more text that would tend to add confusion rather than reduce it. Also, that kind of information would have to go to the help text - which is not visibile by default upon decisions made by product management and our usability experts. I'm not 100% positive, but I thought that 9.2 and 9.3 would boot from the hard drive after the CD1 copy has finished 10.0 Beta2 boots from CD1 after copying the CD1 files are finished, so if the user is not looking at the screen in the crucial 10 seconds installation has to start again. So, as an enhancement (maybe for future versions) I's suggest either - more than 10 seconds for "system will reboot" - ejecting the media if possible - booting from HD I would agree not to add more text, though. Thanks for a great Beta2, btw . |
