Description Marco Michna 2005-08-11 12:20:34 UTC
I have a nVidia Corporation NV15GL [Quadro2 Pro] (rev a4) in my machine but
3Ddiag tells me that there is no 3D capable graphic chipset.
Comment 1 Stefan Dirsch 2005-08-11 12:34:06 UTC
Probably you're using a legacy chipset no longer supported by nvidia in newer
drivers. Output of "lspci -n", please.

Indeed. This is a legacy chipset.

Hi there,

I'm new with SuSe and still a little newbie with linux but i really manage to get myself out of troubles. But i meet actually the same problem with a video card not listed in the legacy chipsets that are no longer supported by nVidia. Here goes my system:

AMD 64 2800+
512 Mo DDR PC3200 Crucial
MSI K8T-Neo FSIR
MSI GeForce 5900XT

I can't activate the 3d support. The checkbox is kinda locked.

Can somebody help me please ?

My e-mail is: abrankovic@sympatico.ca

Thank you very much.

Use "sax2 -m 0=nvidia".
Comment 6 Aleksandar Brankovic 2005-10-25 15:01:56 UTC
Doesn't work at all... The checkbox stays locked. I even tried the solution of the Bug #115112 and doesn't work either.
Comment 7 Stefan Dirsch 2005-10-25 15:04:32 UTC
Ignore the checkbox and make sure you have installed the nvidia driver before via YOU (YaST Online Update).
Comment 8 Aleksandar Brankovic 2005-10-25 15:08:48 UTC
That's done. I ignored the checkbox. But now when i try to launch any 3D application, let's take for example Tux Racer, it says that there's no graphic card with 3D support or it's not configured and that this application requires it. When i ignore the message, it's slower than a PI 100 Mhz :)
Comment 9 Stefan Dirsch 2005-10-25 15:12:10 UTC
I don't think you really installed the nvidia driver via YOU.
Comment 10 Aleksandar Brankovic 2005-10-25 15:18:30 UTC
I did exactly what the guy on the Bug #115112 said to do and failed. I checked the Reload patches from server, then show category: Installable & Installed, and checked the NVIDIA(r) Graphics Driver as an update then clicked accept. Then it shows me the NVIDIA liscence (which i accept). After the installation, i reboot and nothing. I can do it many times, same result.
Comment 11 Stefan Dirsch 2005-10-25 15:27:56 UTC
Probably for whatever reasons the download of the driver didn't work. Use our installer howto instead and install it manually.
