Description Ludwig Nussel 2005-08-15 14:56:16 UTC
kdebase3-kdm can be installed without kdebase3-SuSE according to rpm deps
(good!). However, kdm without kdebase3-SuSE looks ugly :-) And more important
the windowmanager list is not correct then. Installing kdebase3-kdm on top of
Minimal+X11 misses WindowMaker in the list although it's installed plus kdm
tries to start kde by default although it's not installed and fails. I
suppose /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.kdm3 is responsible for making kdm behave
properly so it should be moved from kdebase3-SuSE to kdebase3-kdm.

your assumtion is wrong. The reason it looks ugly is? The broken user list I
fixed today? If so: fine.

The list of windowmanager list is wrong most likely
because /usr/share/xsessions is not in the default list of sessions and the
kdmrc used without kdebase3-SUSE is lacking some entries.

And kdm is not defaulting to kde, but to "default" - it's xdm's Xsession files
that make that kde. It should default to twm if kde is not installed though.

please check mbuild portia-coolo-1
Comment 3 Ludwig Nussel 2005-08-16 08:23:06 UTC
I observed the behavior at home. The installation is no longer available in
this configuration so I can't verify your fix.
Comment 4 Stephan Kulow 2005-08-16 08:26:28 UTC
ok, I won't install Minimal either
