Description Gernot Payer 2005-08-16 13:25:15 UTC
Ripping cd tracks as normal user is not possible as default permission settings
do not allow this.
Comment 1 Ludwig Nussel 2005-08-16 13:29:51 UTC
What kind of special permissions are required? Please also attach the output
of lshal.

I have no idea which permissions are required by cdparanoia. But at the moment
it is only usable as root.
Comment 4 Ludwig Nussel 2005-08-17 07:11:45 UTC
works fine as user here so I need to have look at your system.
Comment 5 Gernot Payer 2005-08-17 09:24:25 UTC
Ah, now I see what I did "wrong". I started cdparanoia from within a ssh
session. When logged in via kdm it works as user indeed.
Unfortunately people not savvy of the deep mysteries of a SUSE system will not
understand why this is this way.
Comment 6 Ludwig Nussel 2005-08-17 09:43:29 UTC
Same as on every sane Linux distro. No access to "desktop" devices from ssh by
default.
