ehm, how do you switch resolution? via krandr ? I have no idea which program runs in the background. I basically use the "end
user solution":
- right click on desktop
- menuitem "Desktop einrichten" ("configure desktop"?)
- click "Appearance" in left column
- click on resolution combo box
There's a checkbox that enables activating that setting also during KDE startup. It's a question if it should default to on or off. It should probably default to off, because whenever something goes wrong after "apply", the settings would be permanent and you had no way to restore the old, working default. Well, this checkbox did not catch my attention. Now that you mentioned it, I actually saw it. But as you have to extra acknowledge a resolution change one more time after clicking Ok/Apply, otherwise the original state is restored, it didn't cross my mind, that this wouldn't be permanent. Expecially as KDE settings are always saved permanently when Ok or Apply is clicked. So this behaviour kind of contradicts standard KDE behaviour. possibly later post 10.0 reopen we should check that. Reorganization of usability-bug assignments. We try to discharge the number of our bug entries in the next weeks. => Reassigned to efuchs For consistency reasons KDE settings should be saved permanently when clicking ok/apply For this special case: why isn't it possible to replace the checkbox "Apply settings on KDE startup" by a checkbox "Settings for current session only" or so, and change behavior accordingly? I shall answer why? Who says that it isn't possible? :-) Or shall I implement it (label change, inverse checkbox behavior)? coolo, can you decide? this module is a mess it seems - but after some chatting with Stephan we agree with Eva :) Kcontrol settings are expected to be consistent over KDE restarts Changed in Factory. |
