Description Danny Al-Gaaf 2005-08-17 16:40:29 UTC
The new beta2 bootsplash has artifacts (looks like jpeg artifacts) on the lower
side (near the points) ... really ugly!
Comment 1 Kenneth Wimer 2005-08-22 17:28:30 UTC
this is due to the compression in the jpeg...increasing quality (and therefor file size) of the jpeg.

Can you check this in the Beta3? It should be fixed.
Comment 2 Kenneth Wimer 2005-08-24 10:53:19 UTC
addind mls in CC

Comment 4 Danny Al-Gaaf 2005-08-24 19:48:31 UTC
Looks as fixed, but the old files with artifacts are used during installation.
Should be also fixed
Comment 5 Kenneth Wimer 2005-09-08 11:22:34 UTC
check the rc1 and see if it is fixed already
Comment 6 Marcel Hilzinger 2005-09-08 13:31:18 UTC
I think it's ok now. Around 'Press ESC for...' there are still some ugly
points, but this shouldn't care :-)
Comment 7 Daniel Naber 2005-09-17 23:20:24 UTC
In RC1 I can still see artifacts. JPEG just isn't appropriate for these kind of
images (no matter how much compression is used), can't you use PNG instead?
Comment 8 Kenneth Wimer 2005-09-18 11:29:00 UTC
unofortunately these pictures are added to the initrd, so size is of importance - so we can only use jpegs.
Comment 9 Stephan Kulow 2006-03-08 14:16:55 UTC
we have new JPEGs anyway
