Description Kirk Coombs 2005-08-17 19:41:01 UTC
Getting to SaX2 in YaST has always been done by navigating to "Hardware>Graphics
Card and Monitor". While this label was never strictly accurate, it worked fine
because that always seemed the PRIMARY purpose of the module. Now, however,
SaX2 has been restructured to give prominant place to configuring the Keyboard,
Mouse, VNC, etc. To the end user, this may be confusing. For example, the
exact same keyboard and mouse modules are both accessable outside of SaX2.

It may make more sense to get rid of the separate "Hardware>Keyboard Layout" and
"Hardware>Select Mouse Model" modules and just rename the SaX module to
something like "Graphics Card, Monitor, Input Devices, and VNC".

A name like "Graphics Card, Monitor, Input Devices, and VNC" is definitely
too long and confusing.

Maybe it's possible to still have several paths to SaX but make SaX show
the specific configuration right way. Marcus?

yes sax can be called like this:

  sax2 --dialog <dialogname>

   . Monitor
   . Mouse
   . Keyboard
   . Tablet
   . Touchscreen
   . VNC

there was a discussion together with Tom about this. Here is the e-mail:

Klaus told me that there will be some work to handle this but
nothing happened unfortunately. Well I provided the possibility
but nobody makes use of it I still don't know who is responsible
I think it's not me :-)
Comment 4 Klaus Kämpf 2005-08-18 08:46:38 UTC
We did the separation of text and graphics mode for mouse and keyboard.
However, noone thought about graphics card and monitor so this issue has to be
resolved later :-(

ok

Closing old LATER+REMIND bugs as WONTFIX - if you still plan to work on it, feel free to reopen and set to ASSIGNED.

In case the report saw repeated reopen comments, it's due to bugzilla timing out on the huge request ;(
