Description Lukas Ocilka 2005-08-18 08:26:16 UTC
There is a Remote Administration configuration in the Network Proposal, but when
I enable it, SaX in the Hardware Proposal will propose its own VNC="disabled"
option.

SaX should use the current settings from the Network Configuration or the Remote
Administration should disappear from the Network Proposal.

How to reproduce:
* Make a new installation. Enable the Remote Administration (with firewall) in
the Network Configuration. When you get into the Hardware Configuration, skip
it. Select [x] Start YaST (in the last installation dialog). When the YaST is
started, go to the Network -> Remote Administration a check - it is enabled and
also the firewall support for VNC too.

* If you didn't skip the Hardware Configuration and [Accept] it as it was
proposed, the Remote Administration would be disabled but the firewall would
stay enabled.

sax never will configure VNC by default. SaX has nothing to do with
that remote administration feature because this is based on xinetd/Xvnc
and SaX only provide the possibility to export your current X-Server
with settings made in xorg.conf... totally different stuff

The proposal of sax in the installation has no code for VNC setup

But sure it is confusing to users, as we have seen a similar question asked
today on research. We should use help texts to explain the difference. (Text
freeze now but maybe worth it)

Lukas should look into y2logs for the second case he mentioned.
Comment 3 Marcus Schaefer 2005-08-18 09:13:29 UTC
people we are talking about completely different things, the possibility
to export the X-Server with vnc exists since the very first versions of
sax, the only thing which has changed is the GUI ;) I did not provide
any VNC handling in YaST or in the proposal while installing so there is
no point for explanations.

IMHO I would suggest to explain that "remote administration feature" more
detailed to let people understand what it does
Comment 4 Lukas Ocilka 2005-08-18 09:15:21 UTC
I can't reproduce it with the minimal installation, sorry :(. It might be
dependent on the KDE selection I used before - I'll try it again.

Closing old LATER+REMIND bugs as WONTFIX - if you still plan to work on it, feel free to reopen and set to ASSIGNED.

In case the report saw repeated reopen comments, it's due to bugzilla timing out on the huge request ;(
