Description Lenz Grimmer 2005-08-18 15:12:54 UTC
After the xorg.conf that was created during the initial installation was not
usable (see BUG#105573), I decided to switch to runlevel 3 and restart SaX2 by
running "sax2 -r". It started up, but the diplay just went black and switched to
standby - I had to press CTRL+ALT+Backspace to get back to the console.

SaX.log

SaX.log that was written after starting it with "sax -r". The configuration was
aborted with CTRL+ALT+Backspace.

I now reverted to my "old" SUSE 9.3 xorg.conf - this wone works correctly.
Comment 3 Marcus Schaefer 2005-08-19 11:12:54 UTC
you selected a:

SAMSUNG:SYNCMASTER 4S  {
 DDC=SAM0100
 Hsync=31-48
 Vsync=43-75
}

are these values correct ? The resolution was set to 1280x1024 according
to DDC. This results in a 1280x1024 mode at:

   46 Khz
   44 Hz
   Modeline "1280x1024" 77.62 1280 1344 1480 1680 1024 1025 1028 1050

which is in my opinion not possible 44 Hz. Please check referring to the
monitor manual if the sync range is correct I assume no

Hi Marcus! No, I did not select anything - I was not able to, since I
immediately got a black screen after SaX2 finished the autodetection...

However, the same (wrong) model was picked during the initial installation - see
BUG#105573 for the story that lead me to trying to manually configure X for this
monitor.

Somehow this monitor is mis-detected, regardless if I connect it to my Laptop
(BUG#104640) or my desktop machine...

Unfortunately can't locate the manual for my monitor - and Samsung appears to
deny it's existence on their web-page (AFAICS) from the back of the (CRT):

Name: 955b
Model Code: AQ19LS9T/EDC

https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=46017 actually contains the .inf
files for my 920T, if you want to take a look at it's capabilities. I supplied
that info for investigating BUG#104640.
