Description Andreas Schwab 2005-08-22 18:34:57 UTC
The config generated by SaX causes the server to not display anything useful,
just some randomly colored pixels that seem to fade away.

Hmm the configuration looks good to me and the log is ok as well
don't know why there is no output, seems to be a radeon driver problem
on PPC ?
Comment 3 Stefan Dirsch 2005-08-23 08:41:54 UTC
Nothing obvious I could find in the logfile. Maybe on ppc only 16bit color depth
works. Please give it a try.
Comment 4 Andreas Schwab 2005-08-23 09:37:13 UTC
Color depth doesn't matter.
Comment 5 Stefan Dirsch 2005-08-23 09:44:57 UTC
Hopefully at least using fbdev works. Sometimes it also helps to use the
framebuffer resolution with the ati driver.
Comment 6 Stefan Dirsch 2005-08-29 14:23:39 UTC
Andreas, did you try my proposal of comment #5 meanwhile?
Comment 7 Andreas Schwab 2005-08-29 14:26:29 UTC
yes.
Comment 8 Stefan Dirsch 2005-08-29 15:02:51 UTC
Sorry, wrong because useless question. Questions should be.

1) Does fbdev work?
2) Does ati driver work, when you use the same framebuffer resolution.
Comment 9 Andreas Schwab 2005-09-05 09:59:40 UTC
UseFBDev works. Resolution is fixed.
Comment 10 Stefan Dirsch 2005-09-05 10:35:09 UTC
You mean the option "UseFBDev", right? I can add this option to x11DB. Should I?
Comment 11 Andreas Schwab 2005-09-05 11:20:54 UTC
I'd rather see the radeon driver fixed. :-)
Comment 12 Stefan Dirsch 2005-09-05 12:28:14 UTC
Sure. --> LATER
Comment 13 Stefan Dirsch 2006-01-25 13:00:39 UTC
reopen for retesting ...
Comment 14 Stefan Dirsch 2006-01-25 13:01:03 UTC
Could you try again with 10.1 Beta? Thanks.

Comment 16 Andreas Schwab 2006-03-11 00:58:56 UTC
Still the same.
Comment 17 Stefan Dirsch 2006-05-11 09:34:03 UTC
Just for the record. Using the "radeon10b" driver would be worth a try.
Comment 18 Stefan Dirsch 2006-06-15 09:47:33 UTC
See previous comment.
Comment 19 Andreas Schwab 2006-06-15 09:49:35 UTC
I cannot test it any more.
Comment 20 Stefan Dirsch 2006-06-15 09:52:18 UTC
Oops. Probably hardware is no longer available. Let's close it now.
