Description edo hikmahtiar 2005-08-22 19:01:27 UTC
this problem occur when I try to connect to the internet (dial up) using my CDMA
phone device (Motorola V680) and USB to serial Data Cable.....
I'm using Kinternet to set up dial up connection....
with this setting (major setting) :
-device : /dev/ttyUSB0
-Baud : 115200
-stupid mode : on

the problem is seems like the modem hard to connect, eventhough on my CDMA phone
display show a sign that it's say already connected......

if lucky when my connection is succeded to connect then after +/- 10 mnt it's
diconnected.....

All this problem never seen before when I'm using Suse 9.1, 9.2 until 9.3....

...I really sorry about my english....
i hope this can make Suse more and more powerfull....
thankyou

regard

Arvin? Can you help please? Don't know if this is a problem
with the setup done by YaST or a deeper problem in the serial
interface of the kernel.

I've add also the maintainer of setserial (Hi Marian) and
the maintainer of yast2-network (Hi Martin) to CC.
Comment 2 Arvin Schnell 2005-08-23 10:12:37 UTC
Well, no. I have no idea what the problem could be. And I have never
used a USB to Serial adapter/cable.

Maybe /var/log/messages and the log in kinternet give some insight.

Reassigned to maintainer of pppd and wvdial.
Comment 5 Hendrik Vogelsang 2005-09-05 10:25:12 UTC
please do the following:

turn on pppd debugging by

echo debug >> /etc/ppp/options

then connect again _once_

after that connection finished wait 2 minutes and attach the output of the command

tail -n 200 /var/log/messages
