Yes, it's a different script. TNT2 is no longer supported by the current NVIDIA driver which is used now for 10.0. Therefore the driver is neither downloaded nor installed and "nv" driver is used for X configuration instead. For details see: http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-installer-HOWTO.html http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-installer-HOWTO.html#19 Gotcha. Thanks for the info. Are there plans on putting a warning in YOU? This could freak out a lot of newbies especially without a forced X check. Unfortunately this is not possible. This is a limitation in YOU. A big warning could be placed in the patch file of the update directory ( /i386/update/10.0/patches/fetchnvidia.sh-52454 ). Try adding "NON-LEGACY ONLY" or "CHECK SUPPORTED CHIPSETS BEFORE INSTALL" or "GeForce3 to GeForce7" to the short description and list the non-supported chipsets in the long description. I would be happy if the online update had different updates for different chipsets. It would still be very easy to install drivers and they would actually work. Good support of video card drivers is why I moved to SUSE in the 1st place. I'm sure plenty other people will be upset if it leaves. |
