hwinfo file created under SuSE 9.3
Cannot reproduce the problem here. Also the logs end way before the crash. Tried the procedure with two different install CDs, both verified with correct md5sum. Crashed every time. Saved the logfile some minutes after the crash occured. I am afraid I cannot flush the logfile before the crash appears. This bugs completely stops installation of SuSE 10.0 beta 2. This might be an unexpected partition table for YaST, still, it should not crash. If there is any other step I can undertake to help do not hesitate to request additional information. boot with the 'start_shell' cmdline option Cheers! Na bitte, warum nicht gleich so? ;-) After booting with "start_shell" and following the same procedure, I found the following information: Segmentation fault at Storage.ycp: 2056 /usr/lib/YaST2/startup/YAST2.call: line 283: 2592 Segmentation fault y2base "$Y2_MODULE_NAME" $Y2_MODE_FLAGS $Y2_MODULE_ARGS $Y2_MODE $Y2_QT_ARGS ATTENTION I am retyping from paper. Not every character might be correct, but the line number are definitely correct. SuSE 9.2 and 9.3 installed OK on the machine. Sorry, but the information in comment #7 is useless. If possible pack the whole directory /var/log/YaST2 after the crash. And if possible try Beta 3. There have been fixed in yast2-storage. check dmesg for uncompressing errors, they indicate a bad cd. Beta 3 y2logs.tgz
Beta 3 shows the same crash. Installation media are md5sum checked after download, after burning and with YaST installation media check. Have also been used to install on another machine (smae procedure there for partitioning). Please, have a look at it. Hard to keep up with versions. This was still version beta 3. Tared /var/log/YaST2, stored dmesg and y2logs.tzg with more debug logging. Hope that helps. I would really like to get SuSE 10.0 running on this computer. Created attachment 48516 [details]

This looks like a duplicate of #112913 and should be fixed in beta#4. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 112913 *** |
