Description Nicholas Smith 2005-08-24 23:14:20 UTC
I've got an IBM ThinkPad X40. I booted the first install CD for OpenSuSE (SuSE
10) Beta 2. In the installation program it prompts me that it cannot find the
installation CD.

Novell Desktop 9 installer suffers from the same problem, but SuSE 9.3 Pro
installer works fine.

If you guys need further info / files let me know.

Nick

System specs:

Intel Pentium 4M
1.25gb Ram
40gb IDE HD
External IBM USB CD-Rom

Nothing else attached to the system.

Yes, we need the YaST2 logs, see:
http://www.opensuse.org/index.php/Bug_Reporting_FAQ#YaST
Comment 3 Klaus Kämpf 2005-08-25 09:26:50 UTC
From the description, it seems that linuxrc fails to find the CD with YaST.
So its most probably a linuxrc problem.

Nicholas, did you see a language selection dialog ? I guess no.

Do you have SuSE 9.3 still running on this system ? If yes, please run
"hwinfo" and attach its output to this bug.

If it's in linuxrc, does it load usb-storage (check on console 3)?
If you continue in manual mode from there on, does it work?

I'm afraid too late ...
