clean install of beta 3. ipw2200 nic cannot be configured. ipw-firmware missing
from installation. added ipw-firmware-5.6 from ftp.suse.com . no help.

problem now appears to be hotplug/udev related. by looking at dmesg errors.

below are some relevant error messages found in dmesg.

dmesg | grep hotplug

Yes, firmware hotplug is broken in beta3. Don't know if there is a fixed 
package available yet.
