Description Roger Larsson 2005-08-25 20:40:07 UTC
Shouldn't bittorrent (ktorrent) become faster the more people that download?
Anyway the torrent download hardly moved forward but direct download was
fast (> 10x difference). Why?

I agree that the bittorrent is slow. I think the big problem is that not enough
people are staying and seeding after they have finished the download. I wish I
had the upload speed to help out more but the best I can do is 32KB/s at night
and 16 KB/s during the day. At the current time I see that the swarm speed is
about 7MB/s for 268 people.

We are aware of this problem, but unfortunately there isn't much we can do to
fix it :( [I'm currently seeding from a private server with 1000 KB/s, that's
all I can personally do...]

Closing, WONTFIX.
Comment 3 Roger Larsson 2005-08-26 11:40:40 UTC
The problem with not enough people staying is probably because it is so
painfully slow that no one will even stand downloading the complete set...
 :-(

Is it really 1000 KByte/s, if it is 1000 kbps I would understand.

It's really 1000 KByte/s.
