See the characters in the red circle. All of them became black boxes.
There is another font issue during the second stage installation. The size of Latin characters in the dialog area are too small. See the following attachment. Created attachment 47740 [details]

The font size of release notes are very small.
Zhe Su> 1) put both ttf-founder-traditional and ttf-founder-simplified Zhe Su> packages into CD1. This would fix the problem with the sizes reported in comment #2 as well. The problem is not that the Latin characters are to small, the problem occurs because the Chinese characters are too big. They are from a 16x16 bitmap font and therefore cannot scale down. Zhe Su> 2) remove both of them from CD1 and put them into other Zhe Su> CDs. This would probably fix the problem of the missing glyphs because then FZMingTi cannot be used anymore in the second stage of the installation and the Gnu Unifont is complete enough both for simplified and traditonal Chinese. Zhe Su> So we only use newunifont.pcf.gz for every installation Zhe Su> stages. Only for the second stage of the installation when done from CDs. When an installation is done from the (9GB) DVD, the TrueType fonts are already installed before the second stage, therefore the TrueType fonts can be used for all stages of the installation. In the first stage of the installation they can be used when Chinese is selected in Linuxrc. As the TrueType fonts need a lot of space, putting all TrueType fonts needed for CJK on CD1 might not be possible though. It would be the best solution, but it might not be possible. We must leave this for the CD-creation team to decide. I think installation from CD should be seen as a fallback only when no DVD drive is available. Do we have space on CD1? DVD recorder is not as popular as CD recorder, at least in China. And 5CD version is smaller than DVD version, so downloading is faster. Therefore, CD version is still very popular in China. Steffen just told me (to my surprise) that there is no second stage installation anymore, i.e. there is no reboot any more after CD1. I must get a Beta3 CD-set and see for myself. If this is true, it would not matter anymore whether the fonts are on CD1 or not. Of course it still matters whether they are in the instsys though (also on CD1).
