Missing "add new tab" button (left hand side)
this is most probably a bug in the plastikfox theme. Please check the other themes. They should have the button. I checked theme settings of firefox. I used the "default" scheme. Neither using "plastikfox" nor using "industrial" changed the behaviour. I checked it on two different maschines. Same result: No "add new tab" button. hmm, you're right. But is this behaviour different at all to the original Firefox? IIRC only mozilla has such a "new tab" button but I can't remember that Firefox has one. Created attachment 47878 [details]

Ok, initialy this button appears as soon as at least two tabs are open. This
can behaviour can be changed using the options menu.

And with WinXP version of Firefox-1.0.6, too.
I don't know what's going on but I don't get this new tab button with Firefox 1.0.6 on SUSE 9.3. I can't open the attachment from comment #6. While browsing for a different problem I found a work-around/solution(?) for the "missing icons"-issue (https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=113533). It is related to file /opt/kde3/share/icons/default.kde/index.theme More details are mentioned in thread http://www.linux-club.de/viewtopic.php?t=39850&highlight=icons The work-around/solution described in the thread mentioned above works for me. I don't know if that work-around/solution helps to find the real cause. To Wolfgang Rosenauer: Sorry, did not look into this case for some days. Attachment to comment #6 generally looks like attachment to comment #7 ("Add New Tab" button left of the first tab. At this time problem seems to be solved as described under comment #9. I have no idea if this problem is a KDE problem only, if it is a firefox problem only, if it is a GNOME problem, or if it is a intersection of all of the areas mentioned before. But again: Problem solved after applying the procedure as mentioned in comment #9. Maybe this can help experts to locate the root cause ... Googling shows me that the new tab button is actually an extension. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1456 Install and works fine on 10.3. |
