Description Volker Kuhlmann 2005-08-29 00:40:58 UTC
Chossing the desktop between KDE and gnome during installation presents a
misleading wording. KDE: "konqueror and kmail". gnome: "firefox and
evolution". It's not made clear to a newcomer that both types of applications
can be run under either desktop. Many people would have heard of firefox by
now, but would conclude that they need to select gnome to get firefox.

Perhaps add something along the lines of "other browsers like firefox can also
be used from within KDE". Or a more general statement that gnome applications
can be used under KDE, and vice versa.

This information isn't relevant at that point in the installation. The only
intention of that text is to give a user as a hint as to why they might want
to pick one desktop over the other. The only difference we can convey
reasonably is the default applications. That is what is discussed here. Other
information is available in the manuals.
