Description Harald Koenig 2005-08-29 12:02:11 UTC
this is more a comment/warning than a RFC, because I understand it's a good
idea, BUT... ;-)

/usr/lib/secchk/security-weekly.sh now runns "rpm -Va".
that's a good idea, but it may take too long time and annoy some users ?!

on my notebook it got started 01:46 this night and was still running
this morning at 09:00 when I killed it to be able to write this mail
(system was completely trashing, first console login timed out after 60 secs!)

this is on a Toshiba Portege 3480 notebook (600 MHz P-III, 192MB ram, slow disk).

Thanks for the report but "rpm -Va" is too valueable to disable it by default.
Please disable it in your setup.
