Description Philipp Gühring 2005-08-30 09:17:33 UTC
In the german translation, Ethereal is found as "Internet -> Verwaltung" in
the menu. Verwaltung would be active administration, but Ethereal is just a
passive sniffer, that can´t administrate the internet.

Suggestions:
"Ethereal"
"Monitoring"
"Sniffer"
"Debugging"
Comment 1 Petr Ostadal 2005-08-30 11:07:07 UTC
Adrian, how can I change it to submetu Internet->Monitor?
Comment 2 Adrian Schröter 2005-08-30 11:10:21 UTC
Network Monitor

Categories would do it. Or you can use

System Monitor

because it may need a root passwort ?
Comment 3 Petr Ostadal 2005-08-30 11:29:01 UTC
Ok I can add it to category System Monitor (it needs root passwd), in menu it
will be System->Network . Philipp, it will be ok for you?
Comment 4 Philipp Gühring 2005-08-30 23:37:33 UTC
Yes, putting it into System->Network is ok, I would say.
How do you want to name Ethereal it itself in the menu now?

Comment 5 Petr Ostadal 2005-08-31 07:21:05 UTC
Ethereal keeps name Ethereal, is any problem with it?
Comment 6 Philipp Gühring 2005-08-31 07:37:51 UTC
The problem was that it wasn´t named Ethereal, but it was named "Verwaltung",
and it was in the Internet menu. If you change the name to Ethereal again, and
move it to System->Network (so that it is available as
System->Network->Ethereal) then it´s ok.
Comment 7 Petr Ostadal 2005-08-31 07:44:01 UTC
it is weird, could you attach me your /usr/share/applications/ethereal.desktop ?
I have there Name[de]=Ethereal... (I check it on beta3).
Comment 8 Philipp Gühring 2005-08-31 08:53:10 UTC
Now this is weird. ethereal.desktop contains the correct name "Ethereal". So
there seems to be some menu-cache corruption.
What was the command again to clean the menu-cache, or to verify it?

I am using beta2, and it is installed in a QEMU VM.
Comment 9 Petr Ostadal 2005-08-31 09:57:47 UTC
Probably you have your own configuration menu in your home, could you try find
some .xdg in your home or something similar.
