Description Olaf Hering 2005-09-08 07:14:51 UTC
/etc/sysconfig/bootloader:LOADER_TYPE is now 'ppc' instead of 'lilo'

/sbin/lilo is not called anymore. update the kernel postinstall scripts to deal
with this change.
Comment 1 Andreas Gruenbacher 2005-09-09 13:59:31 UTC
Since I don't know what the rationale for this change is, I won't implement
this change.
Comment 2 Matthias Fruehauf 2005-09-09 15:28:06 UTC
Hmmm, why not at least ask before closing directly? Olaf, could you please
provide the requested info?

Comment 4 Andreas Gruenbacher 2005-09-19 09:52:33 UTC
Why does LOADER_TYPE have to be "ppc" instead of "lilo" on ppc? Sounds broken
to me.
Comment 5 Andreas Gruenbacher 2005-10-17 11:28:38 UTC
Matthias, this bug hasn't been updated in a month now. Please assign it to the appropriate person in your team. Thanks.
Comment 6 Joachim Plack 2006-01-25 13:52:11 UTC
well LOADER_TYPE is 'ppc' to distinguish from lilo on i386 which is a completely different thing. As the bootloader stuff has been almost completely rewritten, this has
been cleaned up.

There a bugzilla ans an appropriate patch - dont see a need for discussion.
hare could you please apply to mkinitrd package?
Comment 7 Hannes Reinecke 2006-01-25 13:56:45 UTC
Already done.
Can I close this then?
Comment 8 Olaf Hering 2006-02-01 14:24:56 UTC
of course its not fixed!

root is on extended now, which forces FAT, which makes kernelupdate painful because one has to run lilo manually.

argh.

Comment 10 Hannes Reinecke 2006-02-03 12:30:45 UTC
looks more like a bootloader issue now ,,,
Comment 11 Stefan Fent 2006-02-28 13:35:53 UTC
Is this still valid?
reinitializing of the bootloader is done by perl-bootloader since quite a while.
Comment 12 Olaf Hering 2006-03-01 12:47:54 UTC
this appears to be fixed.
