Should be fixed in the ALSA CVS tree. This bug entry is just for submitting the fixed package to rc2 :) Fixed on rc2. This leads to an error if a user doesn't belong to the given ipc_group. The fix is simply to ignore the return value of chwon(). Updated the attributes. This is a blocker since the sound basically doesn't work without the fix. The fixed package is submitted to STABLE now. So, can we close this now? Yes, the package was checked in -> FIXED. *** Bug 116723 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 116760 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** (In reply to comment #3) > Fixed on rc2. > I am running RC2 and it is not fixed here. Also, I tested KDE and it does have sound, so it appears to be only GNOME that is missing the sound. The comment #3 is about the bug described in the original bug report. The bug appearing on rc2 is the side effect by this fix, and fixed on rc3. *** Bug 116828 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** So, is there any way to get this working now in RC2 or do we all just have to wait until RC3? I would like to get this fixed in my installations to get on with some other tests that need sound. You can try the fixed alsa package on mbuild bari-tiwai-6. Don't forget to add --force option to rpm since rpm -U or -F wouldn't work for the package with the same version and release numbers. Not being a developer, can you give me any other info on attaching to mbuild? Is it an internal server? http? ftp? Thanks, I'd love to give it a shot. I put it on ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/alsa/SL10.0rc2-fix. Wait for a while until it's sync'd. |
