I'll file a droprequest. I wanted to do this years ago: https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2017-11/msg00422.html Resolving as "wontfix". Drop request needs more coordination can't install kiwi-boot-requires-1.2.0-3.1.x86_64: nothing provides ifplugd needed by kiwi-boot-requires-1.2.0.x86_64 Assigning to the kiwi maintainers - can you get rid of that dep? Otherwise it might be fair to take over maintenance of ifplugd Marcus, David: this is probably only in some legacy code, or the dep is already removed and just forgotten in the spec? Anyway, I will check and add compatibility code for replacement of iplugd stuff if necessary. (In reply to Dominique Leuenberger from comment #4) > Drop request needs more coordination > > can't install kiwi-boot-requires-1.2.0-3.1.x86_64: > nothing provides ifplugd needed by kiwi-boot-requires-1.2.0.x86_64 > > Assigning to the kiwi maintainers - can you get rid of that dep? Otherwise > it might be fair to take over maintenance of ifplugd Just came to my mind: what actually requires kiwi-boot-requires? IIUC k-b-r is legacy code that is only used in very special setups, so it should not stop the dropping of ifplugd. > Just came to my mind: what actually requires kiwi-boot-requires?
kiwi-boot-requires is an internal package never released to customers but used by the buildservice worker to resolve the package requirements of the custom kiwi boot images. This is only relevant for people building legacy kiwi images not based on dracut
Thanks Seife for the fix. A package update of kiwi-boot-descriptions is on its way:
created request id 764367
Stefan I assign this back to you to continue with the drop request
Thanks
