Description Markus Koßmann 2005-09-09 12:00:09 UTC
The installation of RC1 leaves the file /etc/sysconfig/mouse unconfigured. And
I haven't found an option in Yast to configure it with yast despite the
installed template says it will be configured by yast. Also Sax2 leaves that
file unconfigured.
The unconfigured /etc/sysconfig/mouse causes the following error message when
starting gpm :
Neither the variables MOUSEDEVICE and MOUSETYPE nor the variable GPM_PARAM
is set in /etc/sysconfig/mouse

Please provide the yast-logs of your installation and tell us what mouse exactly
you have (hwinfo --mouse). Attach both outputs.

The automatic creation of /etc/sysconfig/mouse on that system did work with
SuSE 9.3, SaX has no problems with that mouse, too.

Sorry , I will not be able to any more information for the next two weeks,
because I'm on holidays.

with SuSE Linux 10.0 the GPM mouse configuration is no longer
done automatically. If you want to configure the mouse for the
textconsole call

  yast mouse

«with SuSE Linux 10.0 the GPM mouse configuration is no longer
done automatically.»

Is there any reason why it is now done that way?
