Description Martin "Matt" Wolf 2005-09-10 04:24:15 UTC
In order to use dm-crypt you need the tool cryptsetup. SuSE 9.3 still had at
least the old shell script version of it included. Now, in SuSE 10 (beta 4),
it is completely missing.

The standard SuSE disk / partition encryption does not allow to encrypt the
swap disk. Cryptsetup does make that possible.

A professional business notebook with the business data in an encrypted
partition, but no encryption of temp and swap, that is doing just half of the
job. cryptsetup does make swap encryption possible and working, running here ~
6 months on 2 production notebooks.

Thomas, do you know who maintains this?

In cryptsetup 9.3 was included in the package util-linux. For 10.0 it
was split of into util-linux-crypto.

So everything is fine, right?

Yep, just install util-linux-crypto.
