openSuse 10.0 installed with KDE. Open KMail and type Ctrl-N to write a new
mail. Type "dass daß" and you'll see that "daß" is accepted as correct, but
"dass" is not. Bug: New German spelling should be activated default, so that
"dass" is accepted as correct but "daß" is not.

which spell checker do you use? 
 
(compose window, settings / configure spell checker) 
 
which dictionary is there?

ispell and ispell is broken. I fixed this in SVN
