This is an enhancement. Jiří please decide if this enhancement makes sense. Thanks. You should read this in the help text: "Additional packages with support for the selected primary and secondary languages will be installed. Packages no longer needed will be removed." When you don't leave language as a secondary, you probably don't need it at all. Yes, I know. That's why I guessed, that's a feature. But within YaST I didn't guess, that my KDE-translations will be removed. There is no hint, which packages will be removed: yast? kde? gnome? openoffice? Just did another check. Switched from DE to HU kde-i18n-de is removed, but kde-i18n-hu package get's not is installed. The module installs yast-translations, ispell, and firefox-translations Switched back to DE: module want's to install yast-translations, aspell, and firefox translations, no KDE. So as long as the module doesn't install new kde-translations it's not a good idea to remove the old ones... All packages for the language you don't need - yast translations, kde, gnome, openoffice translations, specific fonts etc. 1. Basicaly, if you are switching to another language and intend to use other languages in future, it is a good idea to leave the rest of the langauges in the list of secondary ones. 2. If hungarian translations were not installed after switching to HU, it surely is a bug. Could you please attach the logfiles? Ok. Problem of missing KDE-translation was not a bug. I had just the wrong CD-set (beta4 instead of RC1). Now via NFS it works. But I'm still not convinced, that's a good idea to delete KDE-translation. After logout-login the KDE desktop will be in english, as old translations are deleted, and new ones not set up yet. If the new translation are not set up, that might be a KDE initialization problem. But why should stay the old one, when you removed the old language? Because someone want's to change YaSTs language only, not the whole System. Suggestion (enhancement for 10.1): You have already checkboxes for adjusting keyboard layout and timezone. Why not make YaST, Firefox, ispell Openoffice, KDE, Gnome etc. also available via Checkbox? ad comment #9: > Because someone want's to change YaSTs language only, not the whole System. But language configuration is for altering whole system - just as all other yast modules. ("Choose the new Primary Language for your system." "In the selection box, specify additional languages to use on your system.") ad comment #10: separate checboxes for each application? No, that doesn't have a sence. However, it might heve a sence to have "Adapt packages" checkbox. We have already discussed this. Anyway, reassiging to get it to FD if necessary. For intertnal record: The discussion about installing/uninstalling packages took place in bug #74257 and bug #65344. *** Bug 116509 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I think this has been resolved already. |
