May I please ping this as we're slowly (but surely) approaching a new GCC release and this will unblock acceptance of the new package into Factory.

The linking error occurred due to a missing `extern` keyword which is fixed post release of 5.8.2 in the upstream master.

Please let me know if any other repo needs to be fixed with this patch.
