Description Bodo Bauer 2005-09-13 11:38:07 UTC
Trying to install RC2 on an Acer Ferrari 4000 fails before it even begins.
Booting the Mini ISO succeds up to the bootscreen where you select between 'Boot
from hard Diks', 'Installation', etc.

The clock count's down up to the point where yu press any button. Then it stops
counting and the system seems to be stalled. No button gives any reaction and
even CapsLock doesn't toggle the LED...

Do you really think this is a YaST bug? Looks like a kernel problem, doesn't it?
Comment 2 Michael Radziej 2005-09-13 11:52:12 UTC
Steffen, I have no idea which bootloader we're currently using. Can you please
assign it to the appropriate maintainer? I think you have the overview.

You forgot to mention that previous SL releases didn't work, too.

Press 'Alt' during startup. Does it help?
Comment 4 Bodo Bauer 2005-09-13 12:17:48 UTC
I don't know if other releases failed as well. I didn't power this one one until
today.

And Yes, pressing ALT during boot does help. But how does one find out about
this... ?

Reopening with major severity. This is not resloved

Your BIOS is broken. You can bring me the notebook for testing after 10.0 is
done.
