Anything to do with the recent permissions issues on alsa Takashi? Yast is run as root so thats why it might work there. |
I am using gnome in RC2. I had sound in RC1 and when I installed RC2 the sound no longer works for any device under my GNOME desktop. If I go into yast2 and test the sound I can hear it fine, but I don't hear anything for individual applications or components. I have not tested under KDE. hwinfo information 19: PCI 1f.5: 0401 Multimedia audio controller [Created at pci.277] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_8086_2445 Unique ID: W60f.io8Q7SGWu27 SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.5 SysFS BusID: 0000:00:1f.5 Hardware Class: sound Model: "Dell 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio" Vendor: pci 0x8086 "Intel Corporation" Device: pci 0x2445 "82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio" SubVendor: pci 0x1028 "Dell" SubDevice: pci 0x00d8 Revision: 0x04 Driver: "Intel ICH" I/O Ports: 0xd800-0xd8ff (rw) I/O Ports: 0xdc40-0xdc7f (rw) IRQ: 193 (730 events) Module Alias: "pci:v00008086d00002445sv00001028sd000000D8bc04sc01i00" Driver Info #0: Driver Status: i810_audio is not active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe i810_audio" Driver Info #1: Driver Status: snd_intel8x0 is active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe snd_intel8x0" Config Status: cfg=yes, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown
