Description Fredrik Sjöstedt 2005-09-14 05:46:31 UTC
With a clean install of RC1 on a laptop (Compaq EVO n610c, the wireless pc card
netgear WAG 511 is not working.

It's working on many previous versions.

When plugged in, it's recognized by OS, and found in yast.
The problem is that no configuration seems to take place, and a ifconfig don't
show the card.
Neither can I find any device that matches the card. I have been looking for
device eth1 and wlan0.
eth0 is the integrated 100Mb network port.
Turning eth0 of, dosn't help.
Can't see any difference in having the card inserted during boot, or by plugging
it on after boot.
Have checked with lsmod, but can't find any module that I can match with the
atheos chipset found on this card.

In Suse 9.3, this card works flawlessly.

The card needs a closed source module which is not included in openSUSE
kernels. Please download kernel-default-nongpl from
ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/10.0/... and install it on your system.
