Let's add it without giving too much details. Karl, please add this. It is in as follows (on aj's request) - just for your info, Rebecca: <sect3 id="pp_printer" status="2005-09-14"> <title>Using Parallel-Port Printers</title> <para> Reboot may be required after parallel-port printer setup with YaST. If printing does not work when a parallel-port printer was set up with YaST, reboot and then do not run the YaST printer setup again for testing. Only parallel-port printers in ECP/DMA mode are affected. </para> Is it too late for proofreading? <sect3 id="pp_printer" status="2005-09-14"> <title>Using Parallel Port Printers</title> <para> Reboot may be required after setting up a parallel port printer with YaST. Johannes, is ECP or DMA mode correct or is it one mode called "ECP/DMA"? Both "ECP or DMA" and "ECP/DMA" are o.k. Technically I would prefer "ECP/DMA" because in fact it is one mode - the "ECP" mode - which uses DMA (Direct Memory Access). It is DMA what actually fails (there are "DMA write timed out" messages in the logs). Therefore I appended "DMA" to "ECP" to make it more clear that the issue is in fact about "DMA". The user would find nothing of interest in the logs when he searches for "ECP". Rebecca, is it okay to write "ECP/DMA"? See comment #5 . I did some googling. Please write "ECP DMA mode." thanks - done. |
