During an upgrade install from 9.3 to 10.0 RC1, kernel-um fails to install with
several "cannot resolve dependency" errors.  Ignoring the failure allows the
system to be booted, but YOU update of kernel will fail again with the same
errors.  If several "beta 3" upgrades are selected along with the kernel, YOU
will succesfully install the kernel-um package.  I had this failure on two
seperate systems using different CD sets,

I don't agree that this is a duplicate of 118100 which describes normal
installing of packages.  This bug refers to an "ABORT, RETRY, CONTINUE" pop up
message during a system upgrade install.  I would assume that ALL package
dependencies get resolved or the offending packages deleted during the package
scan prior to the upgrade and one should NEVER get an error message during a
system upgrade.

Even if this is resolved with a DVD, this system does not have a DVD drive and
CD's have always been used in the past for installation and upgrades.

It _is_ a duplicate, the underlying problem is the same: Some uml packages are
on the DVD only due to space constrains. Thats why they can't be upgraded to the
10.0 versions when using the CD set, which in turn leads to the dependency
problems you are seeing during upgrade.

You can ask yast to remove the offending packages (i.e. the ones which can't be
upgraded) during CD upgrade, then re-install them from a complete install source
(via ftp from ftp.suse.com for example) after finishing the CD upgrade.
