Trying to write an HTML mail I can hit RETURN forever, but nothing happens,
cursor does not move. In plain text mails it works fine.

Hm, works for me. Did you do anything special?
OK... I realized you're using x86-64.

I think this is an x86-64-specific problem.

Works for me on x86-64, Thunderbird 1.5.0.7. Can this still be reproduced?
