Description Joop Boonen 2005-09-20 18:02:41 UTC
I want to install UML (User Mode Linux) there are 3 packages that are not on CD:
um-host-kernel
um-host-install-initrd
xf86tools
Comment 1 Michael Gross 2005-09-21 09:49:28 UTC
It appears these packages are shipped on the DVD only (the CD-set does not
contain the whole number of packages).

Gerd: Can you give us a clue? Thanks.

It's simply space constrains. The CDs are full, thats why some packages
are on the DVD only, and the UML ones are among them. So basically you
have to install/update using the DVD if you want to use UML (or install the
missing packages later from ftp which has the full set of packages too).

Which FTP? FTP.Suse.COM only has the images and som extra stuff in
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/10.0/ . If I hear you right, you are saying
that we should download the DVD and loop-mount it to get the missing packages.
Is that so?

See http://www.opensuse.org/Released_Version
You can add the "Installation Repository" as yast2 source.
