Description Joe Harmon 2005-09-22 14:04:06 UTC
I added a new account within evolution by going to Edit, Preferences and
clicking on Add. On the Identity screen a put in a user name and password. On
the Receiving Email screen I choose a server type of USENET news. I put in a
server name of support-forums.novell.com and I have tried with and without
authentication. In the Receiving Options I chose to download every 5 minutes
and in the Sending Options I put in a server of imap.novell.com with the
appropriate credentials, setting the authentication type to Login and to use a
secure connection whenever possible. The nntp account just sits at a loading
state and never finishes.

Hi joe,
For support-forums.novell.com no authentication is required. So please do *not* give any user name(and password) in the configuration section (According to http://support.novell.com/forums/faq_nntp.html) there is no need for authentication and no secure channel.
After you add this account. Go to Folder->Subsricptions and select the configured NNTP account. You will be shown a list of all the forums that are available on the server. Chose one and clicking subscribe should show the account in the evolution.

HTH.
