Description Jim Shuler 2005-09-23 05:37:38 UTC
I am using a Sony Vaio laptop. A dialog is always poping up in front of
everything saying that the display is turning on or off. I'm assuming this has
something to do with the external display detection, however, I have no external
display connected. Not sure what app is doing this. never seen it before.

These laptops also have an automatic brightness sensor for the lcd. I have also
seen my mystery dialog pop up and display "Brightness" and a percentage. I'm
using the KDE interface.

Sounds strange ... nothing obvious I could find in the config and log file.

I found it. Same problem as with bug 114960. Sounds as though this is being
addressed for RC2. My /var/log/messages gets the same messages about the error
reading LCD status. Looks like the problem is with kdeutils3 and the KMILO
plugin. What would you suggest for a workaround until RC2? I will try removing
the kdeutils-laptop package.

Ok, makes sense. I close this as duplicate therefore. Please ask for a
workaround in bug 114960.
