Description Christoph Pfeiler 2005-09-26 08:49:49 UTC
A reboot of the computer is done.

Installation is a SUSE Linux 10.0 BETA-10-0-DVD5-BETA3 update from a SUSE
Linux 9.3 Professional:

It freezes during the boot process with a disk dma timeout message!

The computer is a

AMD Athlon XP 2200+
1,80 GHz, 448 MB RAM
Mainboard is a
Asrock K7S41GX
/dev/hda is a Maxtor 32049H2
/dev/hdb is a Samsung SP8004H
/dev/hdc is a E-DIE-CD-ROM 48X/TKU
/dev/hdd is a Lite-on DVD RW LDW-811s with most recent BIOS A Fritz Card PCI
v2 resides in PCS slot 1 A Technisat satellite receiver card type B2C2 resides
in PCI slott 2

A full powercycle cleans the problem.

The problem is nasty for not too much experienced users, because a forced
power cycle after freezing causes a forced reboot after the necessary file
system check and repair.
You have to interrupt the boot cycle and power down and up manually!

Not really a critical one...

Reopen for 10.1 if the bug still exists.
