Description Dirk Gorissen 2005-10-01 10:02:47 UTC
I love the KInternet tool since it makes handling WLANs a lot easier. However
it still lacks in usability compared to the WinXP way of handling Wireless
connections (imho very userfriendly and easy to quickly switch between
networks).

My request is to add WPA support to KInternet, instead of WEP only. So that
when you double click on a WPA encrypted network it asks you for the WPA
passphrase instead of for the WEP details. Same goes for updating column
names, etc. I know not all hardware drivers support WPA but none the less it
would be a nice feature to have so one doesnt have to go through the tedious
"nexts" of YaST each time.

In any case keep up the good work, I love suse!
Cheers
Dirk

PS: using OpenSuse 10.0 RC1 with kinternet-0.72-3

To be decided by managment.

There is onging work to implement WPA support in NetworkManager (NM). Thus,
this work is not included in SL10.0.

Dirk, if you're keen on giving NetworkManager (NM) a try, have a look on the
mailing list [1]. So far, NM only provides a GNOME applet. However, this
applet _does_ work with KDE, too. We're working on a native KDE integration for
SL10.1.

We're not going to add this to kinternet but NetworkManager should have it,
therefore resolving as WONTFIX.
