Description Martin Scharnke 2005-10-03 07:37:29 UTC
I run a Celeron-600 (Coppermine) with an NVidia RIVA TNT2 Model 64 (PCI ID 0x002D)
Yes, I know, the latest NVIDIA binary drivers don't support my card. Following
the advice on the NVIDIA site, I compiled a kernel-interface for the last
version of the binary drivers to support my card: 7174_pkg1. It compiles fine,
it installs with sax2 fine, it starts X fine, and runs 3D stuff fine.
But exit X, and re-start, or reboot (either intentionally, or due to power
failure), and X will refuse to restart: "0 Screens Found" is the message, I
think. I can't verify this, as I'm in X to type this report, and that means
that the last error log has been clobbered by my successful re-start.
I have successfully re-installed so many times that I have written a script
to do so. I have to rebuild the kernel interface every time; running sax2 is
not enough.
