=====

1.8 OpenZFS and ZFS

Neither the OpenZFS nor ZFS file systems are supported by SUSE. ZFS is a closed source file system, and therefore cannot be used by SUSE. OpenZFS is under the CDDL license that is incompatible with the GPL license. However, Btrfs provides an excellent alternative to OpenZFS resp. ZFS and is fully supported by SUSE.

=====

As discussed on Slack: https://suse.slack.com/archives/C02KE4Q3QM7/p1684426962091189

The statement "ZFS is a closed source file system" is false. It is open source but licenced in a way that is incompatible with the GPL and hence incompatible with the kernel.
