The version of Bazel available in the repositories is very old, as Bazel has evolved quickly. It would be great to make one of the Bazel 6 versions available, ideally the latest one (which as of now is 6.2)

Please let me know if I can be of any help with this.

It seems to be updated in factory now, in the bazel6 package. Would it be possible to make it available in PackageHub now?
