Description

601ef0d52e96 (gfs2: Force withdraw to replay journals and wait for it to finish ) might introduce the proper NULL deref by setting `sdp->sd_jdesc = NULL;` in `gfs2_jindex_free()`. I think versions before this commit are not affected, instead of a possible use-after-free, but a double-check would be appreciated. That would leave the following branches affected: - stable - SLE15-SP4 It seems that the final patch has been added into v6.4-rc2 by
the commit 504a10d9e46bc37b23 ("gfs2: Don't deref jdesc in evict").

(In reply to Petr Mladek from comment #2) > It seems that the final patch has been added into v6.4-rc2 by > the commit 504a10d9e46bc37b23 ("gfs2: Don't deref jdesc in evict"). > > See also > https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/ > ?id=504a10d9e46bc37b23d0a1ae2f28973c8516e636 Thanks Petr. That actually might be use-after-free for older versions Takashi, I can't find anyone really experienced with this filesystem. You pushed several patches for it but I guess these were selected by git-fixes. Are you familiar with the code or do you know anyone familiar with it? From the Filesystems or Kernel/Storage teams? Adding Goldwyn and Hannes into Cc. The patch is simple. It seems that it has been backported into the upstream stable kernels back to 5.10. But the patch was nominated by the autosel bot so that it was not conscious. See https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/?q=%22gfs2%3A+Don%27t+deref+jdesc+in+evict%22 Anyway, it seems that the patch fixed a syzbot error, see https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/000000000000d88b1e05fdf513c3@google.com/ Sorry, I'm not familiar with this code at all. I guess it's rather a thing for filesystem team. I already have a bunch of backports lined up for gfs2 (pending testing), so I'll take care of this one too.
